President Ilham Aliyev viewed Turkmen national carpet museum
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has viewed the Turkmen national carpet museum in Ashgabat. The museum was established in 1993 under the order of the President of Turkmenistan. The goal of the museum is to protect and develop the carpet weaving art of Turkmenistan. The day the museum was founded is annually celebrated as Turkmen Carpet Day in the country. The museum also houses an administrative building of the Turkmenkhali state joint stock corporation. The museum occupies a total area of 5,000 square meters. More than 2,000 carpet samples are kept in the museum. One of the highlights is the Golden Age carpet measuring 301 square meters. Woven to mark the 10th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence, this carpet is listed in the Guinness Book of Records as the world's largest handmade carpet. The head of state signed the museum`s guest book.
 
President Ilham Aliyev arrived in Turkmenistan for official visit
President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has arrived in Turkmenistan for an official visit. A guard of honor was lined up for President Ilham Aliyev at Ashgabat international airport decorated with the national flags of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan. President Ilham Aliyev was welcomed by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and other high-ranking officials.
 
Azerbaijan`s defense minister meets chief of Turkish General Staff
Azerbaijan`s Minister of Defense, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov has met with Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, Army General Yasar Guler. The sides exchanged views on regional security aspects, cooperation in military, military-technical, military-educational, military-medical spheres, conducting joint military exercises, organizing reciprocal visits of military specialists and other issues of mutual interest.
 
Baku hosts trilateral meeting of Azerbaijan`s Defense Minister and chiefs of general staffs of Turkey and Georgia
A trilateral meeting of Defense Minister of Azerbaijan, Colonel General Zakir Hasanov, Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Turkey, Army General Yasar Guler and Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Vladimer Chachibaia has been held in Baku. The sides discussed the development of trilateral cooperation, ensuring regional stability, as well as security of the ongoing regional projects and a number of other issues. Addressing the event, Minister of Defense Zakir Hasanov said that the trilateral meeting of the chiefs of the Azerbaijani, Turkish and Georgian armies is a vivid evidence of the three countries` strategic cooperation. “ It is the third meeting. The meeting aims to restore stability and peace in the region, ensure security of the strategic and economic projects being implemented in three friendly and neighborly countries and widen cooperation among the armed forces,” Hasanov noted. The Chief of the General Staff of the Georgian Armed Forces, Major General Vladimer Chachibaia underlined that these relations are based on a common history. “We achieved a level of strategic partnership in the region. Our military cooperation is very important within the strategic partnership. We successfully continue our cooperation to ensure security of the ongoing regional projects,” Chachibaia underlined. Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Turkey, Army General Yasar Guler hailed the importance of the meeting. “It is our third meeting. We will hold the bilateral and trilateral meetings to discuss the situation in the region. Our military relations are expanding. We will do our utmost to further develop our military relations. I believe that the meeting will yield important results,” Yasar Guler added.
 
Azerbaijani parliamentary delegation attends 8th Plenary Session of TURKPA
An Azerbaijani delegation led by Speaker of the Parliament Ogtay Asadov has attended the Eighth Plenary Session of TURKPA hosted by the Grand National Assembly of Turkey in Izmir. Speakers at the event included Chairman of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of Kazakhstan Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic Dastanbek Dzhumabekov and Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey Binali Yildirim. The council started its work with the handover ceremony of TURKPA Chairmanship from the Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic to the Grand National Assembly of Turkey. Binali Yildirim expressed his gratitude to his Kyrgyz colleague for fruitful work during the TURKPA Chairmanship of the Kyrgyz Republic. The council adopted the TURKPA Strategic Plan for 2019-2021, as well as Activity Plan for 2019. The international conference titled “TURKPA in the First Ten Years and the Future of Inter-Parliamentary Cooperation: New Approaches to Cooperation” was held in Izmir as part of the Eighth Plenary Session of TURKPA. The conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of TURKPA was attended by the heads of member parliaments, speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, representatives of international organizations and diplomatic corps, as well as scientists and academicians. Following the screening of the video dedicated to the ten years’ activities of TURKPA, Ogtay Asadov, Chairman of Milli Majlis of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Nurlan Nigmatulin, Chairman of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Dastanbek Dzhumabekov, Chairman of Jogorku Kenesh of the Kyrgyz Republic, Binali Yıldırım, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, TURKPA Chairman-in-Office and Laszlo Kover, Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly, addressed the opening session. The opening session was followed by award ceremony where Binali Yıldırım presented TURKPA Medal for Merit to Dastanbek Dzhumabekov. The conference continued its work with three sessions.
